Bandaged Suspect Sought In String Of Md. Bank Robberies
ELKRIDGE, Md. (WJZ) -- Police are calling for the public's help to identify a serial bank robbery suspect who held up a Capital One Bank branch in Elkridge Friday afternoon.
The suspect walked into the bank, located in the 6000 block of Marshalee Drive, about 1:45 p.m. and gave a teller the impression he was armed before demanding money, according to Howard County police. The teller handed over some cash and the suspect left without incident.
Authorities believe the suspect, described as a black man wearing a white neck brace whose face was partially obscured by bandages and glasses, also robbed the Sandy Spring Bank on Spencerville Road in Burtonsville Road about 1 p.m.
The suspect's description is similar to those gleaned from two previous bank robberies in Laurel, including one on Feb. 5 at Howard Bank and another on Jan. 15 at Sandy Spring Bank, according to police.
Anyone with information on the suspect's identity or whereabouts is asked to call 410-313-STOP or email hcpdcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov. You could receive a reward of up to $1,500 for information leading to an arrest.
