Hyun-soo Kim Refuses Minor Leagues, Orioles Face Decision

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The recently acquired Orioles outfielder Hyun-soo Kim has refused his assignment to the minors.

His agency said in a statement: "Kim would like to see his contract honored and executed faithfully," said Leeco Sports Agency. "He also hopes to receive fair opportunities to continue his career as a major leaguer with Baltimore."

The contract they are referring to is Kim's two-year, $7 million deal that stipulates Kim can't be sent to the minors without his consent. Well, he's not giving his consent.

Dan Duquette and Buck Showalter have been vocal that Kim wasn't involved in their plans for the Opening Day roster after a poor performance this spring, but they now have to either keep him on board or grant him his outright release -- in which case they would still have to pay his entire salary.

They have until noon Sunday to make a decision.
