Police: Glen Burnie Man Stole Car From Dealership, Arrested For DUI

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—A man is facing DUI charges after police say he stole a vehicle from a dealership where he worked.

The investigation began on March 27, when a police officer spotted a Hyundai Elantra pull out of a Royal Farms store with no headlights on around midnight.

Authorities say the vehicle then began to drive in a reckless manner which prompted the officer to pull over the driver.

The suspect, who had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, told the officer that he just put an engine in the vehicle and was test driving it.

Police say the suspect, 44-year-old Michael Linwood Cox, of Glen Burnie, worked at Antwerpen Hyundai on Baltimore National Pike, but the vehicle belonged to a customer.

Further investigation revealed that Cox did not have permission to take the vehicle from Antwerpen Hyundai, and his driver's license was revoked.

Cox has been charged with auto theft, DUI, driving on a revoked license, and related charges.

He is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $25,000 bail.
