Maryland's Stone, Trimble, Carter Rank In Top 50 For Underclassmen NBA Draft

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- CBS Sports ranked the 96 underclassman who have declared for the 2016 NBA Draft and three Maryland Terps; Diamond Stone, Melo Trimble and Robert Carter have all made the list in the Top 50.

Diamond Stone ranked the highest on the list of the Maryland players, coming in at No. 10 our of 96. At just 19 years old, the center is expected to draft somewhere in the No. 12 to No. 40 range. The biggest problems experts see are that he can't defend on the perimeter and he can't rebound inside.

Next up was 21-year-old point guard Melo Trimble ranking at No. 25. Trimble had a roller coaster season for Maryland, eventually leading the team to the Sweet 16. He is expected to be drafter somewhere between No. 20 to No. 50.

Finally, Robert Carter Jr. will be in the draft after hiring an agent, and he's expected to be a pretty "polarizing prospect." CBS Sports Writer Sam Vecenie said, "On one hand, he's a long power forward who has some potential to step away and shoot 3s. On the other hand, he was an inconsistent defender and rebounder this year." Carter is believed to be an option in the second round for many teams and ranks 45 out of 96 on the list.
