WEATHER BLOG: Drying Out

Dry weather is continuing to win the battle with much of the precipitation from the piece of energy crossing through the Ohio Valley falling apart. Still, as the vertically stacked low grazes the Mason-Dixon line, some showers will be possible early this morning. They will be very light. As the system moves off to the east, dry downsloping will allow the sun to peak out and temperatures will still be able to warm up across the area today.

For tonight, clear skies will allow temperatures to cool off and allow the slight chance for patchy frost in outlying areas. Cold air advection isn't very strong, but with light wind and clear skies, it's certainly possible.

By Sunday, a warm front will lift northward late in the day and warm temperatures back up. There is some disagreement how quickly the front moves through, but generally I'm leaning warmer than the models. For Sunday night, all precipitation will remain off to the north. It will remain dry throughout the night.

Monday looks to be a "flame-thrower" kind of day with very warm temperatures. With wind out of the west-southwest, ridging aloft, and generally clear skies, temperatures can certainly exceed 80 for the region. I will caution that it is very close considering the front is stalled out JUST to the north of the area, but this appears to be more of an issue for the PA/NY border than us.

For Tuesday, the disturbance that produce severe weather in the Plains will run into a confluent flow and rapidly weaken. However, showers and a thunderstorm will still roll through during the day. By Wednesday, skies will generally be clear with high pressure taking control.
