Man Accused Of Leaving Toddler In Car Gets Bond

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Out on bond. New details on the Maryland man accused of leaving his girlfriend's toddler in a hot car to die.

Thirty-one-year-old Daiquan Fields was granted a $50,000 bond.

Prosecutors argue Fields should be denied bond, citing his criminal history, including drugs and grand larceny charges.

A two-year-old girl died when Fields left her in a hot car for several hours. He says he forgot she was in the car and he called 911 as soon as he realized she was still there.

Fields told police he had a beer with lunch that day and now there are questions about alleged marijuana use.

The defense argues his traffic record has no bearing on this case.

As a condition of release, Fields is ordered not to drive and submit to a drug test twice a week.
