Person Struck By Light Rail In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A person was struck by a light rail at North Howard and John streets. It happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday and there are still many unanswered questions.

Amy Yensi has more.

The person was stuck under the train for between 45 minutes and an hour. Part of the front part of the train had to be cut away; the victim was stuck about eight feet underneath the train.

"We actually had to cut a member of the train off to extricate the patient. The patient's doing well," said Chief Glenn Kukucka.

The victim is described as a white man between 50 and 60 years old. He was taken to Shock Trauma. His condition is not known but he is expected to survive.

The victim was in a fenced in part of the track.

Transportation officials reported a slight delay in the area but is running normally now.
