Oprah Signs On To Star In Story Of Baltimore County Woman

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Oprah Winfrey has signed on to star in an HBO film based on the story of a Baltimore County woman.

"The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" is about a woman whose cells were taken from her while she was a patient at Johns Hopkins Hospital back in the 1950s.

The cells were later harvested and developed into the first immortal cell line, which continues to be used in medical research today.

Winfrey will portray Lacks' daughter, Deborah. She will also serve as the film's executive producer.
