Soldier MIA From Korean War Identified, To Be Buried At Arlington

BALTIMORE (AP) — The remains of a U.S. Army soldier who went missing during the Korean War have been identified, and he will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency said in a news release that 18-year-old Cpl. David J. Wishon of Baltimore will be buried with full military honors Friday.

The agency says Wishon was assigned to Medical Company, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. Defense officials say Wishon was declared missing in action after his unit was attacked on Dec. 1, 1950, by enemy forces near the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea.

The agency says in the early 1990s, North Korea returned commingled remains of some 600 servicemen to the United States. The Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory used DNA analysis to match remains to Wishon's sisters.
