The Norris & Davis Show Best Of - Week Of May 7th

This week's edition of the Norris & Davis Show Best Of includes interviews with Dan Shonka reviewing the Ravens draft class, Olympic hero Kerri Strug on her gold medal winning performance at 1996 Atlanta games, and Ken Singleton on the Orioles vs Yankees series and the Yankees early season struggles.

Dan Shonka

Dan started off by talking about Kamalei Correa the Ravens 2nd round pick whom he had rated as a 4th or 5th round player saying "I was kind of in the short end of the stick with my staff they liked him much better than I did...I think he's got a lot to learn, he's a good player but I would have settled on him in the late third to fourth round area." As for what Kamalei Correa needs to work on to get his game up Dan said "he has to learn how to play in coverage, he can rush the passer that's his big thing...he needs to learn to be a multiple ability guy learning man and zone coverage."

Dan talked about the Ravens selection of Keenan Reynolds and the imp "he's going to play probably in the slot, and to be a good run after catch guy...he really looked great at the practices for the East West Shrine game." As for what kind of skills Keenan has to bring to the table for the Ravens Dan said "he caught the ball well especially for a guy who was an option quarterback, he's very slippery."

Dan also talked about the rest of the Ravens draft class, and whether he thinks the Ravens have done a good job of adding talent to their roster.

Kerri Strug

Kerri started by talking about her vault 20 years ago and what has happened since saying "a lot has changed in 20 years since we won the team Gold...I'm a very lucky girl I'm now a mother of two, it's like nothing I ever anticipated." Kerri also spoke about the moment when she nailed her vault saying "the US gymnastics team was in gold for the first time and we were on US soil...we moved on to the vault and we weren't hitting it very well for whatever reason...I fell on my first vault and injured my ankle...I remember thinking this is crazy our Gold medal is slipping away and I have to nail this."

Kerri also talked about what it was like making the transition from a gymnast to an American hero overnight "it was definitely amazing but overwhelming...I was very shy and had never been in the limelight and all of a sudden I was going on various television shows...it was amazing but a little bit scary also."

Ken Singleton

Ken started off by talking about the Yankees struggles and what is the cause for them saying "the starting pitching hasn't been great but that's only part of it, you also saw last night they only scored one run...it seems like every game they find a new way to ground into double plays." As for what the strength of this Yankees team is Ken said "the bullpen has been great if they could just get there."

Ken also talked about a big golf event he has coming up for the Cool Kids charity he belongs to, go to Coolkidscampaign.org for more information on the event which takes place June 25th-27th.
