Rob Long: Orioles Add Paul Janish Back To Roster, Purchase Contract

The Baltimore Orioles have made some roster moves prior the the 1:05 p.m. scheduled game for Saturday against the Oakland A's. The O's have purchased the contract of infielder Paul Janish from AAA Norfolk. Janish is a 33-year-old veteran who has over 1,200 career Major League plate appearances. Janish has a career .216 batting average with a .278 on base percentage.

The corresponding move for the Birds was sending LHP T.J. McFarland to Norfolk. McFarland had a 4.73 ERA with the team in eight appearances. The team had been working with eight relievers after Ryan Flaherty was demoted last month. Flaherty was later recalled because of the injury to J.J. Hardy but the bench was still shorthanded.

Now, with the team purchasing the contract of Janish, the team now has seven in the bullpen and a full bench.

Janish is the starting shortstop for the Orioles in game one of the day/night doubleheader against the A's.
