Harford Co. Community Raises $700K for Families of Fallen Deputies

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- It has been three months since two Harford County deputies were killed in the line of duty.

Since then, the community has come together raising thousands of dollars to help their families.

Tracey Leong has more.

An overwhelming amount of support continues to pour in honoring the families of two fallen heroes.

"It's what makes Harford County special, we're 3 months out and people continue to donate," said Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler.

More than $700,000 dollars has been raised to help the families of Deputy First Class Mark Logsdon and Senior Deputy Pat Dailey.

The deputies were fatally gunned down responding to a call at the Panera Bread in Abingdon on February 10.

The Harford County Sheriff tells WJZ the response has been humbling.

"The donations and even those who can't donate--the cards, letters and prayers and support come in to the office and Pat and Mark's family, it has mean't the world to us," said Gahler.

The entire community has come together to help out, they have fundraisers planned throughout the month of May and June.

"They so generous to give money donation, they do fantastic job and we been planning this for months," said Mario Buontempo, with Main Street Tower.

The Bel Air business is one of the many holding a fundraising event to support the Harford County Deputy Sheriff's Benevolent Fund.

All of the money raised since February 10th will go directly to Pat and Mark's families.

"It helps as much as much as it possibly can," said Gahler.

For now all donations will go to the deputies families and then at a certain point possibly June, they will then go into the general fund.
