Health Violations Reported At 30-Plus Baltimore Food Services
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Baltimore City Health Department has made available online all the recent restaurants and food establishments that have been closed due to health and safety issues.
Between November 2015 and May 2016, violations were reported at more than 30 Baltimore food services. They range from rodent and insect infestations to operating without a food or hot water license.
Some of the temporary closures include The Cheesecake Factory and The Fudgery at the Inner Harbor and Mex Restaurant at Power Plant Live. They have since reopened.
More than half a dozen other food establishments remain closed or were shut down for good.
"People need to be able to make informed decisions about where they want to eat. We are proud to introduce this new tool which will increase transparency and help residents make better choices for their families," said Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen. "We've continued to work tirelessly to ensure our restaurants and other food service establishments serve food in a hygienic and safe way, and believe this new system will empower residents to be more involved in this critical public safety process."
