Md. Trump Delegate Indicted On Child Porn, Explosives Charges

WALDORF, Md. (WJZ) -- A Maryland delegate for Donald Trump has been indicted on child pornography and explosives charges.

According to the indictment announced Wednesday, 30-year-old Caleb Bailey of Waldorf tried shipping a package of ammunition and explosives to Wisconsin in February.

The package ruptured open at a postal facility in Capital Heights. It was intercepted by the Postal Service, who then notified the ATF.

While examining the contents of the package, law enforcement found 119 rounds of reloaded .50 caliber cartridges with incendiary projectiles and 200 rounds of 14.5mm spotting projectiles, which contain an explosive charge.

According to court documents, Bailey had called twice about the package not yet being delivered. Prosecutors say he used a false name in the first call.

Neither Bailey nor the the person the package was addressed to had a federal license to transport the explosives.

Law enforcement then arranged to meet with Bailey at a postal facility on May 5. He was under the impression he would be providing info about the missing package in person. Bailey did not appear.

That same day, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his home and seized a machine gun.

The indictment further alleges from March 2015 to January 2016, Bailey engaged in sexually explicit conduct with a minor to produce child porn. He also possessed child porn.

According to our media partner, The Baltimore Sun, Bailey was elected as a delegate for Donald Trumps in the state's April 26 primary. He received 23,905 votes in the state's 5th Congressional District.

If convicted, he faces up to 50 years in prison.
