WEATHER BLOG: Rainy Day

A storm which brought rain and thunderstorms to the Southeast on Friday will track up and along the East Coast through the day Saturday. Rain began across the city around 4 a.m. and will continue into the evening hours. The heaviest rain will fall into the early afternoon hours before tapering off to a lighter rain during the Preakness Stakes.

The rain and clouds should keep temperatures steady in the upper 50s throughout the day. Windy conditions are possible along the Delaware coast, closer to the low, with gusts approaching 30 mph.

While the surface low departs into the Canadian Maritimes, a low will continue to dig across the East Coast and eventually cut off into early next week. A plentiful amount of low- and mid-level moisture will keep the area stuck in cloud cover through Monday, with perhaps a few peaks of sun here and there, and the chance for a spotty shower or two. It is not out of the question that a shower could produce a rumble of thunder. This cool upper-level low will likely keep highs near or slightly below average through Monday.

On Tuesday, the low may be just far enough east, Baltimore may stay dry. If that is the case, highs could rise into the upper 70s. The best chance for a shower at this time looks to be across the Delmarva. However, any track to the west, highs could be lower along with the chance for a shower.
