Suspect Shot In Police-Involved Shooting In Northeast Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- A man was shot multiple times during a shootout with officers in Northeast Baltimore late Tuesday night, according to police.

Officers were responding to a report of gunfire in the 2600 block of Aisquith Street about 11:30 p.m. when they spotted an armed man and started chasing him, according to police.

The suspect was running down the 1700 block of Homestead Street when, at some point, he allegedly turned and opened fire at officers in pursuit.

That's when officers returned fire, shooting the unidentified suspect several times, Col. Stanley Brandford with the Baltimore Police Department told reporters at a news briefing.

"It appears the initial shots were fired at officers," Col. Brandford said.

The suspect was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital where, at last check, he was listed in stable condition, according to police.

None of the officers involved was hurt.
