Orioles Rally Late But Fall To Yankees 8-6

Baltimore (WJZ) -- Tyler Wilson struggles in 4 innings of work as the Baltimore Orioles fall to the New York Yankees 8-6 on Saturday night despite a late 7th inning rally.

It was all New York from the start of this ballgame. Austin Romine hit a sacrifice fly off of Tyler Wilson to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3rd. In the following inning, Starlin Castro hit a double on the first pitch to drive in another score. A double by Didi Gregorious and single to center by Romine made the score 5-0 by the end of the fourth inning. That would be the last we saw of Tyler Wilson in the game as he finished with 4 innings pitched, 5 earned runs and only one strikeout.

Dylan Bundy took over in the top of the 5th inning but the scoring continued for New York.  Starlin Castro registered his second RBI of the night with a single to center to make it 6-0.  With runners on first and third in the 6th inning, Jacoby Ellsbury steals home on a double steal attempt that also saw Brett Gardner steal second base. The score would be 7-0 before the Orioles got on the board in the seventh inning.

Mark Trumbo started things off with a solo homer to center to decrease the deficit. Pedro Alvarez homered to left with one man on base to make the score 7-3. Adam Jones' three-run home run seemed to turn the tide as the Orioles turned a seven run blowout into a one run game. But the insertion of Andrew Miller to relieve Nick Goody stalled the Orioles offense in their tracks. Baltimore was unable to score again and the RBI single by Alex Rodriguez in the top of the ninth sealed the win for New York.

The Orioles will look to pick up the series win Sunday at 1:35pm ET as CC Sabathia (3-4 2.85 ERA) goes up against Kevin Gausman (0-3 3.78 ERA).
