Baltimore Man Recounts Unforgettable Encounter With Muhammad Ali

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Muhammad Ali touched so many lives across the nation and here at home. For one Baltimore man, a chance to meet the boxer decades ago was one of the most special moments of his life.

In 1978, a WJZ photographer captured footage of Muhammad Ali as he trained in the Pocono Mountains.

Months after, Leon Spinks de-throned him in Las Vegas.

A Baltimore teen, Kedrick Scribner, then 15-years-old, won a WJZ sports fantasy contest.

His fantasy was to box and train with Muhammad Ali.

WJZ video archives show 15-year-old Scribner trading punches with Ali and hamming it up like the champ.

Ali played along even pretending to throw punches at the teen.

The two had connected like kindred spirits so many years ago.

So when Kedrick heard learned of Ali's death it hit him hard.

"My heart just dropped when I heard he passed it was one of the saddest days of my life," said Scribner.

Scribner spent the whole week with Muhammad Ali following the contest and they even filmed a bug repellent commercial for d-CON and little Scribner played the mosquito.
