Former MoCo Teacher Accused Of 'Upskirting' Student

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- A former Montgomery County high school teacher has been arrested after authorities say he secretly photographed several female students' bodies, including taking an upskirt picture of a 14-year-old girl.

Todd Michael Scriber, 38, of Gaithersburg, turned himself in Wednesday after detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest, charging him with three counts of sexual abuse of minors, according to Montgomery County police.

Scriber was teaching at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School last fall when the allegations came to light. Police launched an investigation after a 14-year-old student reported noticing Scriber allegedly holding a cellular phone underneath her skirt while she asked him about a test question on Oct. 2, 2015.  She said it appeared he was taking pictures.

Days later, when a detective confronted him about the complaint, Scriber let the detective view the images on his phone. While scanning through them, police say the detective spotted multiple inappropriate photographs focused on specific areas of the fully-clothed students' bodies.

The detective confiscated the phone after Scriber tried to grab it from his hands. After securing a search warrant to go through the device, investigators say they identified three female students, ages 16 and 17, in the photographs.

Scriber, who was suspended following his interview with police, is no longer employed by Montgomery County Public Schools.

Anyone who believes they may be a victim is asked to call police at 240-773-5400.
