After Nearly 2 Weeks, Missing Horse 'Playdoh' Found Safe

MARRIOTTSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- The frantic search for a horse that went missing nearly two weeks ago in the Patapsco State Park has ended.

George Solis has the amazing story behind the horse's road home.

Nearly two weeks ago, WJZ first told you about the 10-year-old Paso Fino horse that went missing in a section of the Patapsco Valley State Park.

Playdoh's owner Susan Crawford recalled what went wrong on the trail.

"We slipped down, and I slid off him, and then he took off. He got spooked and took off," she said.

An all-out search for Playdoh -- both on the ground and online  -- also took off, but with little luck.

"A week before, someone had said they had found my horse. And we got there, and it wasn't him," said Crawford.

On a random hike, David Sugar and Vladimir Konstantinov made an 800-pound discovery.

"The horse was there, the saddle was kind of cockeyed 90 degrees," they said.

The guys said they even saw a missing horse flyer at the start of the hike.

"We kind of joked about, how do you lose a horse?" they said.

Aside from a large cut near his chest and tack rubs, Playdoh is OK and ready to get home.

"He kind of put his head on my shoulder, and he was like, 'Oh, thank god. Mom found me,'" said Crawford.

He may also have a newfound sense of gratitude.

"He obviously was very glad to have someone come help him when he needed it," Crawford said.

Playdoh's vets say he is expected to make a full recovery. He will head home to Pennsylvania Friday night.
