Four Orioles Make Top 100 MLB Players List

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- CBS Sports recently shared their updated list of the Top 100 players in Major League Baseball.

As we're about a third of the way through the 2016 season, the updated list looks a bit different and four Orioles players have made the cut.

Back in April, before the season started, the group looked a bit different with Orioles players like Chris Davis and Adam Jones making the list, but the two have since dropped off to be replaced in the lineup by some of the Orioles' prime pitchers.

Manny Machado moved up a few spots from his April ranking of No. 7 to No. 3, just behind Clayton Kershaw and Mike Trout. "Machado boasts elite defense at third, and he's good enough with the glove that he's logged the majority of his defensive innings at short this season. He's also on pace for 107 extra-base hits."

Mark Trumbo made the list with his league-leading 19 homers, 44 RBIs and a .295 batting average. So far this June, Trumbo has nine hits, eight runs scored, seven RBI and four home runs, all in six games. He's ranked No. 39 out of 100 on the list. "Over the years, Trumbo's improved his ability to lay off pitches outside the zone, and this season he's having a career year. He's slugging .593 and on pace for 53 bombs," noted Dayn Perry.

Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman also made the list this round. After a slightly disappointing 2015 season, Tillman is "back to pitching like a near-ace. In fact, his current ERA+ of 130 would be a career-best qualifying mark."

Another Orioles pitcher made the list at No. 95, Zach Britton has allowed just three runs all season, and opposing hitters in 2016 have a line of .139/.190/.215 against him.
