Woman Posed as Landlady, Stole 'Rent Money'

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A North Carolina woman is accused of stealing more than $4,000 from five men by posing as the landlady of a Maryland property she was being evicted from.

Citing charging documents, The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/1sy8Pns) reports that 49-year-old Deborah Lynn Kingsley posted photos on Craigslist of the home she had not paid rent on for months. Authorities say Kingsley told would-be renters she was the property owner and landlady in order to take about $4,300 in rent and security deposits from five people over the course of two months last year.

An August warrant for Kingsley's arrest was served Monday. She faces multiple theft charges.
It's not clear whether she has an attorney.
