BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A Code Orange air quality alert has been issued for parts of Maryland.

The alert is in effect for multiple counties, including Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's, Queen Anne's, St. Mary's, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico and Worcester.

A Code Orange means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for some people -- especially children and the elderly.

Try to avoid strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
