More Than $27K Raised During Orioles 2016 Food Drive

BALTIMORE (WJZ)— WJZ teamed up with the Orioles and MASN earlier this month to collect donations for the Maryland Food Bank and the results were huge: $27,000!

As part of WJZ's continuing community commitment, each year we team up with MASN and the Orioles to welcome fans with a smile while collecting cans and cash.

Official say during this year's collection, a total of $27,162.61  and 2986 lbs. of food was raised.

"This influx of donations comes at a crucial time of year, as schools prepare to let out and summer hunger begins to heat up," said the Maryland Food Bank.

This was the 30th annual WJZ and Orioles food drive as part of WJZ's continuing community commitment. The Orioles Reach Food & Funds Drive benefits soup kitchens, food pantries and emergency shelters throughout Maryland.
