Woman Arrested, Charged Following Valentine's Day Crash That Claimed Lives Of Newlyweds

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- After a newlywed couple was killed on Valentine's Day while celebrating their six-month wedding anniversary, a woman has been arrested and charged in relation to their deaths.

Police believe 27-year-old Lauren Scott, of North Beach, was under the influence of marijuana and opiates on Feb. 14, when her Toyota Camry crossed the center line on Solomons Island Road and struck the Honda Civic carrying Daniel and Kayla Amos, who were just 20 and 21 years old.

"It was found that she was under the influence or marijuana and opiates. That night she did admit to using heroine prior to the accident," said Lt. Ryan Frashure, with the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Daniel died at the scene. Kayla the next day.

At 20 and 21-years-old, they were inseparable and just starting out.

"I wanted to hold Dan's kids. I wanted Dan to be the best man at my wedding. I wanted him to be there for all that," a friend said.

Scott is charged with several counts of homicide and manslaughter, along with reckless and negligent driving in relation to the crash.

She is being held on $1 million bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center pending a bail review.
