Orioles Even Series With 4-2 Win Over Blue Jays

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Yovani Gallardo returned from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, and he didn't disappoint, as he helped take down the Blue Jays 4-2 to even the series.

After a less than stellar Friday for the Orioles that featured a 13 point beating by Toronto that subsequently forced Baltimore to option Mike Wright to Triple-A Norfolk, Baltimore was due for good pitching. Toronto didn't have quite the offensive showing against Gallardo as they had against Wright and Jimenez, as they were only able to muster 2 runs the entire game. The Orioles would have better luck at the plate.

Manny Machado kept his stellar season going in the bottom of the first when he hit an RBI double for Baltimore's first score of the game. Later in the inning, he was able to run in for a score himself off of a passed ball due to one of R.A. Dickey's patented knuckleballs.

In the 3rd inning, Jonathan Schoop sent a solo shot to right to give Baltimore the 3-1 advantage. Baltimore wouldn't score again until the bottom of the 8th inning when Mark Trumbo hit into a fielder's choice that scored a run and sealed the win for the Orioles.

Baltimore will now look to win the series Sunday afternoon when Chris Tillman (9-1 2.87 ERA) takes on Marcus Stroman (6-2 4.76 ERA).
