Cleanup Underway In Howard Co. After Tornado Touches Down
GLENELG, Md. (WJZ) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF0 tornado blew through Howard County on Tuesday.
Late Wednesday night, an estimated 200 people were still without power. The silver lining is that there were no reported injuries.
More than 24-hours after a confirmed tornado ripped through Howard County, the damage is done.
"We didn't know if it was directly above us or farther down the house," said Sam Heisig, who was inside her Glenelg home when a tree sliced it in half.
"We know it wasn't just a branch that landed on the house," she continued.
The National Weather Service has confirmed the tornado touched down Tuesday near Poplar Springs, with winds reaching up to 80 miles-per-hour. It was on the ground for 20 minutes on a path 13-miles across the county.

Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford is applauding the combined efforts of state and local agencies in the aftermath of the storm.
"We're very appreciative of the working relationship between ourselves and the county. The governor was insistent that I come out," said Rutherford.
Across the county, homeowners like Kevin Hartz are cleaning up debris where they can. His section of Triadelphia Road was littered with trees.
"Between me and my son, we're the only ones who've been cleaning up the road right here to help cars get by," said Hartz.
As cleanup efforts continue, Howard County officials are offering clean water to residents who need it.
