Baltimoreans Ready To Celebrate The 4th Of July

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The long Fourth of July weekend has begun, and there will be lots to do around the Baltimore region.

At Ocean Pride on York Road, the orders are nonstop. The crab house has brought in 200 bushel boxes to keep up with demand.

"It's already started. Our phones are burning up. So we're taking a lot of reservations," said Dominick Cromwell, Ocean Pride.

From the county to the city, Baltimoreans are gearing up to celebrate Independence Day.

"Not only is it independence, but it's family time," said Crystal Matthews.

For those that want to see the fireworks up close, taking a tour of the harbor may be the best seat in the house.
The fleet of Seadog boats will be running cruises all day through Monday, with a special tour during the fireworks show.

"On these boats we get to get close up to the barges -- as close as we're allowed to safely -- and we give a fun narration," said Captain Chris Goldsmith, Seadog.

Street performer Jaspeth Clark is expecting big crowds at the Inner Harbor.

"On that day, people are excited to tip," he said. "They tip for songs that I wouldn't think they would tip for."

The birthplace of the National Anthem -- Fort McHenry -- has a slew of activities to commemorate the nation's birthday. Though the options for holiday fun seem endless, others are taking a pause to reflect.

"We have a son-in-law and my brother who's actively serving in the military now. And there's a lot of gratitude for what they've done for us," said Darcy Astle, Ft. McHenry visitor.
