Slain Baltimore Rapper Lor Scoota Laid To Rest

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Friday marks a somber day in Northwest Baltimore, with hundreds coming out to pay their respects to 23-year-old Tyriece Watson, also known as Lor Scoota.

The Empowerment Temple was packed with Lor Scoota's family, friends and even fans who looked up the Charm City native.

"He was the star in the sky when everyone else saw gray and clouds," said Quiana Harris, Watson's cousin. "He left a lot of people behind, and to look at all the impact he had on the city, there's things my cousin didn't even know he was doing."

Nearly a week ago now, Scoota's murder rocked the city and sparked nationwide reaction. He was gunned down after leaving a peace rally at Morgan State University.

Police say someone in a green Nissan Quest minivan tracked the up-and-coming rap star to Moravia and Harford roads, walked up behind his car and shot him.

"There's not even nothing to say anymore, it's a big loss for such a big city," Harris said.

While his family is at a loss for words, Scoota's music lives on to continue to inspire his young fans.
