Suspect Identified In Laurel Motel Murder

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- An arrest warrant has been issued for the man who Howard County police say shot and killed a woman in a Laurel motel over the weekend.

Kenneth Frizzell Diggs, Jr., 47, of no fixed address, is wanted for the murder of 29-year-old Amanda Duer of La Plata, and the attempted murder of Derick Henderson, 33, of D.C.

Police were called to the Turf Motel in the early morning hours of July 2 for a report of a shooting.

Officers arrived and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Duer was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Henderson was taken to Shock Trauma with a gunshot wound to the leg. He has since been released from the hospital.

Investigators believe that Diggs and the victims knew one another and were involved in a fight.

According to witnesses, Diggs entered the doorway of the victims' motel room and fired shots at both of them.

Diggs is charged in the arrest warrant with murder, attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, burglary and firearms violations.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 410-313-STOP or email HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.

Detectives are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Diggs' arrest.
