Man Killed In Baltimore Shooting Was Owner Of Lor Scoota's Record Label

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Less than two weeks after up-and-coming Baltimore rapper Lor Scoota was killed leaving a peace rally, his friend and business partner has been murdered.

Police tell WJZ 24-year-old Trayvon Lee was shot several times on Wednesday night outside his home in the 2300 block of Anoka Avenue, near Druid Hill Park. Lee was Lor Scoota's former manager and also the CEO of his record label, YBS.

Scoota, whose real name is Tyriece Watson, was also shot and killed after leaving a peace rally in late June at Morgan State University. So far, police have not named a suspect in either deadly shooting.

At this point, police say it is purely coincidental that the two men knew each other and that it is too early to say whether the two shootings are connected.

Police now say Scoota's murder was in retaliation stemming from another non-fatal shooting.

"It does not appear Lor Scoota was actually the person who committed the violent act earlier. It appears that he might have been associated with the person who committed a violent act," said T.J. Smith, Baltimore City Police Department.

Police are calling Trayvon Lee's shooting a targeted attack. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. Lee leaves behind a small child.

"This is a vicious cycle that's continuing, but it's up to all of us... We cannot police our way or arrest our way out of the situation," said Smith.

Anyone with information on either shooting is urged to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
