Rowdy Gaines On Michael Phelps And The Upcoming Olympics

Baltimore (WJZ) -- Rowdy Gaines, three-time Olympic gold medalist and swimming analyst for NBC/ESPN, spoke on the Norris and Davis show about Michael Phelps and the upcoming Olympic Games.

Gaines evaluated the performance of Michael Phelps in the Olympic Trials: "He kind of knows the drill. Just get yourself on the team. His times were not great and he would admit that. I talked to him in the hotel and he said 'I just don't think I hit my taper'. That's a good thing because I think overall he swam pretty good."

Rowdy Gaines also spoke about the dangers of the Zika Virus in Brazil as the Olympics draw closer: "This is my ninth straight Olympics. And every single one has predicted some sort of doom and gloom and they all turn out fine. It's the middle of winter and they've taken plenty of precautions. They did a test event there 6 months ago with 17,000 athletes  and not one contracted the Zika Virus."
