Clues Sought After Woman Is Fatally Stabbed While Walking Dogs

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Baltimore Police canvassed the area for clues on Monday after a woman was stabbed to death walking her dogs last week.

Police were walking door-to-door in the Roland Park area begging for the public's help.

59-year-old Molly Macauley was walking her dogs late Friday night when someone fatally stabbed her and left her for dead in the 600 block of University Parkway.

"She was transported to an area hospital where unfortunately she died from her injuries," said Jeremy Silbert, with the Baltimore Police Department.

More than 48 hours later, police say they're still searching for a motive and the killer while the entire community is left wondering why.

Neighbors tell WJZ that they have never felt unsafe in what is considered to be an upscale neighborhood.

Macauley was a vice president for a company called Resources for the Future, in Washington and was well respected by many.

Her colleagues are still trying to fathom the violent killing.

"[I am] horrified, and feeling so much pain for her, for the way it happened," said Margaret Walls.

"It's not anything that any of us, even remotely thought could happen," said Pete Nelson. "The world  has really lost an irreplaceable person, a really wonderful person."

Police say tell WJZ they're not speculating on a motive at this time and won't say whether anything was taken from the victim.

"Sometimes it's the smallest piece of information they really need to put them on the right track to find the person responsible for this," said Silbert.

Richard Loebelson, whose wife used to work with Macauley, says "she was just a good person."

Police say the victim's dogs were not injured in the incident.

Authorities have since increased patrols in the community. They're asking anyone who has security cameras in that area to check their footage between 9:45 and 11:45 from Friday night.
