Baltimore Man, Dog Escape Blaze That Rips Through City Block
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- An East Baltimore man and his dog were not injured after a two-alarm fire tore through a city block on Tuesday morning.
Six vacant homes went up in flames about 6 a.m in the 2700 block of Fenwick Avenue in Northeast Baltimore.
The blaze closed off traffic to all lanes of Fenwick between Harford Road and 28th Street.
Ralph Stewart and his 8-year-old German Shepard, who live on the block, had to run to safety when the fire came close too his home.
Fire officials say his home was not damaged in the blaze.
Approximately 80 firefighters were able to get the flames under control within 45 minutes.
A firefighter was hurt during the effort, but his injuries are minor, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
