'All Clear' Given After 3 Robberies Reported at UMD Campus
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WJZ) -- The "all clear" has been given at the University of Maryland after authorities said several robberies, at least one of them armed, were reported on the College Park campus late Tuesday night.
The robberies, which took place at some point outside Tydings, Tawes and Queen Anne's halls, were initially reported by university police about 11 p.m. through the agency's Twitter account.
No one was hurt.
Officers searched the campus afterward but did not locate any suspects.
The suspect behind the Tawes incident was armed with a handgun, according to police, who wrote that a weapon was implied during the Tydings incident. Investigators said the suspect or suspects was wearing all black clothing and a black mask.
University police initially reported there had been four robberies, but later issued a correction via Twitter debunking a reported robbery outside McKeldin Library.
