BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Giant Food has recalled some Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake Mixes that are potentially linked to an outbreak of E. coli.

The following products are included in this recall:

  • Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Carrot Cake Mix, UPC 1600040987 with Better if Used by Dates of 12APR2017 through 14APR2017; 28MAY2017 through 30MAY2017 and 07JUL2017 through 08JUL2017]

"Although most strains of E. coli are harmless, others can make you sick. E. coli O121 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration. Seniors, the very young, and persons with compromised immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness," officials said in a new release.

If you have purchased one of the affected mixes, take your receipt to Giant for a refund, or call 1-800-230-8103.
