Pro-Pot Pol Part of Company Vying to Sell Medical Marijuana
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A state lawmaker who pushed to legalize medical marijuana in Maryland is working with a company trying to obtain a license to sell the drug.
The Washington Post reports Del. Dan K. Morhaim never publicly disclosed his connection to the company while he advocated for legislation and policies that would help medical marijuana businesses.
Morhaim, a Democratic lawmaker from Baltimore County who is also an emergency room doctor, said he is working as a consultant for the company, called Doctor's Orders, and has no ownership stake in it. He said he cleared his involvement with the General Assembly's ethics advisor.
Doctor's Orders is one of hundreds of companies vying to win one of a limited number of state licenses to grow and sell medical marijuana.
