Bill Ripken Talks Latest Stories In The MLB

Former Oriole and current MLB Network Analyst Bill Ripken joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk Orioles baseball and the latest stories around the MLB.

The Orioles have lost three straight and are hitting just .192 since the all-star break. Ripken talked about the importance of tonight's game. "Gallardo tonight has got to go out there and find a way to get this thing done and more importantly, I think the O's bats got to figure something out because the past two guys that beat them, are guys throwing ERA's up there at five plus, and the Orioles just haven't gotten any hits."

Pirates' rookie pitcher Jameson Taillon took a line drive off the head from Brewers third baseman Hernan Perez  last night and stayed in the game. Ripken reminisced about the time he was drilled in the head by a pitch at Comiskey Park. "I was bunting, Joel Davis was the reliever. I lost it about half way to home plate. I picked it up when it was real close to my noggin. I turned my head; it hit me right above the ear flap. I still have that helmet with the ball mark on it…Junior said when I first opened my eyes, my right eye was in the upper deck and my left eye was in centerfield."
