Hubble Scientists Push to Final Frontier to Celebrate Star Trek Anniv.

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Face to face with the final frontier. NASA pays tribute to Star Trek on the day of the movie release and Baltimore has a hand in it.

Massive galaxy clusters deep in space.

Hubble scientists inspired by Star Trek are pushing boldly into the final frontier as they possibly can. NASA is celebrating the release of Star Trek Beyond with an new image of thousands of galaxies - billions of light years from earth, studied at the Space Telescope Science Institute on Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus.

Senator Barbara Mikulski helped get the Hubble launched and funded thousands of Maryland jobs.

Hubble offers the deepest views yet of the universe. Light from behind the cluster of galaxies shows it far far away--4 billion light years away. It's another huge milestone for Hubble.

It's Hubble's 25th year of trekking around the universe and in those years has given us images movies could only hope to match.

So while you're watching the movie give a nod to the Space Telescope Institute because it, like Star Trek, is part of the culture now.

A new space telescope will launch in 2018.
