Police: Man Ejected in AACo. Semi Truck Crash Dies

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- A Chesapeake Beach man was killed when he was ejected from a car after slamming into a parked tractor trailer in Crofton late Thursday night, authorities said.

A 2008 Chevy Malibu driven by Andrew Bryan Smith, 28, was heading north on Crain Highway near where it meets Carver Road about 11 p.m. when it veered from the left lane onto the shoulder and struck the unoccupied tractor trailer, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Smith was ejected on impact and declared dead at the scene by paramedics. His body was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore for autopsy.

It does not appear alcohol or speed played a role in the crash, according to police.

Police said the tractor trailer, which was parked next to a Royal Farms store, was correctly lit at the time with parking lights and hazard flashers switched on.
