Video: Police Rescue Hiker After Fall in Frederick Co.

THURMONT, Md. (WJZ) -- A hiker has been critically injured after falling down a mountain in Frederick County.

It happened in a rugged and remote area located in Catoctin Mountain National Park in Frederick County. Authorities say the teenager fell into a crevasse next to Chimney Rock.

A Maryland State Police helicopter was dispatched to assist. Pilots maneuvered the chopper into position at an elevation of 1,700 feet.

The patient was flown to Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
