Dogfish Beer Teams Up With The National Aquarium

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The National Aquarium and Delaware's Dogfish Head has formed an unlikely partnership to support aquatic conservation efforts.

Released earlier this month, SeaQuench Ale is Dogfish Head Brewery's newest session sour beer.

The Aquarium's water-quality experts ran a water sample from the Chesapeake Bay through scientific process called ion chromatography, which provided a salt and mineral breakdown of the Bay's water.

Dogfish Head then used their findings as a blueprint to create the ale's final formula, which includes lime peels, black limes and sea salt to replicate the mineral content of the bay.

"This is a natural collaboration due to our shared commitment to fostering community, nourishing artistic advancement and innovation and cultivating environmental stewardship" said National Aquarium CEO John Racanelli. "We're looking forward to combining our efforts to achieve great things for the Chesapeake Bay and beyond."

Released August 1, SeaQuench Ale will be served in the Aquarium cafe year round and can also be found in dozens of Baltimore-area liquor stores and bars.

The contribution from Dogfish Head helps support many of the aquarium's conservation initiatives, including Seafood Smart, research on shark populations, and the popular social media challenge, 48 days of Blue.
