Maryland Delegate Charged With DWI

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — Ocean City Police say a state delegate has been charged with DWI after an officer saw him getting into his parked truck near a reception for a political convention.

A police spokeswoman tells The Daily Record of Baltimore that Republican Richard Impallaria was parked on 82nd Street near the Ropewalk Restaurant. Police say the officer smelled alcohol on Impallaria's breath.

The spokeswoman says Impallaria didn't complete field sobriety tests and was arrested. She says a test showed Impallaria had a blood concentration of .07. Maryland law says a BAC of .07 or higher can lead to a charge of driving while impaired by alcohol.

Impallaria, who represents Baltimore and Harford counties, is attending annual convention of the Maryland Association of Counties. He did not return a call seeking comment.
