Baltimore Public Works Employee Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say a city employee has been charged in a hit-and-run that killed a 54-year-old bicyclist.

The department said Saturday that 36-year-old Angelo Laprade of New Freedom, Pennsylvania was driving the Baltimore City Department of Public Works vacuum vehicle Monday when he struck Ralph Myron Roane of Dundalk and left the scene.

Police say Laprade has been charged with failing to return to the scene of an accident involving death. He has also been charged with failing to exhibit his license to police after an accident involving death.

Police say the investigators think the accident was caused by pedestrian error, but their investigation is ongoing.

No one answered at a number listed for Laprade on Saturday.
