Man Charged In Recent Annapolis Murder Now Charged In Similar 4-Year-Old Case

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A man has been charged with the murder of a woman whose remains were found in the woods behind a Pasadena shopping center in August 2012.

Jessica Lynn Lee, of Brooklyn Park, was 20 when she went missing in May 2012. She had a 1-year-old daughter.

A man stumbled upon human remains while walking in the woods in August of that year, and DNA later confirmed they belonged to Lee.

Christopher Scheibe was charged with Lee's murder after police arrested and charged him with a more recent murder, that of 24-year-old Holly Smith, whose body was found in the 2000 block of Industrial Drive in Annapolis this past May, according to department spokeswoman Cpl. Jacklyn Davis.

Police say the cause of death in both cases was sharp force trauma.

Detective Regina Collier had identified Scheibe as a person of interested in the Lee case previously, and while Detective Wheeler was working on the Smith case, he also identified Scheibe as a person of interest.

While interviewing him about Lee's murder, he confessed, police say.

He was charged in Smith's murder earlier this year, and has now been charged in Lee's, as well.

Police Chief Timothy Altomare thanked Detective Collier and Detective Wheeler after Monday's press conference, saying "these folks are the final advocates for people who die a violent death... I'm extremely proud of the work that's been put into these cases."

Police say Scheibe has ties to Western Maryland and the Eastern Shore. They police he also may have commited crimes in other areas of the state using a fake name.

"We want people to really focus on his face because ha has been known to use several aliases so if you're just looking at the name, you might not recognize him," said Cpl. Davis.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Anne Arundel County Polcie Department at 410-222-4700.
