Police: 2012 Shooting Victim Dies From His Injuries

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 24-year-old man, who was 19 when he was shot in the face in Baltimore in 2012, has died as a result of his injuries, Balitmore Police say.

Deonta Sylve died May 5 and his death was ruled a homicide on Tuesday.

He was shot on the afternoon of February 6, 2012.

Western District patrol officers who responded to the 1100 block of North Stricker Street for a report of a shooting that day found him suffering from his wounds, and he was transported to Shock Trauma.

Their investigation revealed that Sylve was walking when he was approached by a suspect who shot him once in the face and fled.

On February 10, 2012, members of the Warrant Task Force arrested Brandon Kelam, who was also 19, for attempted murder.

Kelam stood trial for that case and was found not guilty by Baltimore City jury.
