2 Workers Rescued After Roof Collapse In Owings Mills
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WJZ) -- Frightening moments for two workers in Owings Mills. A roof collapsed, trapping them inside.
The men had to be flown to the hospital, WJZ's Ava-joye Burnett reports.
The call for help went out around 4 p.m. Friday. Two workers were trapped inside a house on Oak Mere Road, pinned between the roof and a wall.
Crews had to work for an hour to rescue the men, who were flown to Shock Trauma.
"They were both conscious, talking to the rescuers. Their injuries at this point, they are classifying as multi-system trauma because of the collapse. The exact injuries are unknown, though," said Lt. Paul Massarelli, Baltimore County Fire Department.
Neighbors tell WJZ the home had been under construction for some time, and they had concerns.
"Yeah ,because it just didn't look steady, didn't look sturdy," said Jo Ann McGinnis, neighbor.
"You can see the house looked like it wasn't supported directly. And I am not a builder, you know? I could just see it," said neighbor Don Wheeler.
It's not clear why the roof collapsed.
A Baltimore County spokesperson said despite the extreme heat Friday, no firefighters were injured.
