Gov. Hogan To Kick Off The Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan will kick off the 9/11 Heroes Run in Annapolis.
It's scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Navy-Marine Corp Memorial Stadium.
The Heroes Run 5K is being held to remember the sacrifices people made during the attacks on Sept. 11 and the wars that followed.
The event is sponsored by the Travis Manion Foundation. Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion was killed by a sniper in Iraq in April 2007.
There are more than 50 races across the nation and abroad taking place this weekend to mark the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. The event also includes a 1 Mile Family Fun Run.
Proceeds raised from the event will support the Travis Manion Foundation's programs assisting wounded veterans and families of fallen servicemen.
