Police: Man At Large After Deadly Stabbing Of 10-Year-Old Girl

Glen Burnie, Md. (WJZ)-- Anne Arundel County Police say 18-year-old Andres Garcia stabbed his relatives Monday night, a 13-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl in the 6400 block of Glen Burnie.

Officers are still piecing together what happened.

"So at this point it seems like the kids were home, with the suspect. Parents were not home at the time. It seems like there was some type of a verbal altercation that started, and during that verbal altercation, the suspect picked up a knife," said Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Ryan Frashure.

It's then that Garcia allegedly attacked both children, killing the 10-year-old girl.

Rhonda Hill was sitting outside her home across the street when she heard screaming and slamming doors.

"My first instinct was that it was two kids playing, and then something kept telling me that this sounded more stressful," said Hill.

The 13-year-old boy called 911 as Garcia ran off, launching a neighborhood sweep involving K-9 officers and a helicopter.

Anne Arundel County Police tell WJZ the suspect is new to Maryland and they believe he has limited resources.

"We think that he's possibly still in the area. However, we have reached out to other jurisdictions just in case. We'll broaden our searches if need be," said Frashure.

Garcia is described as 5'5" tall and 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing gray clothing and does not own a car.

As police hope someone spots Garcia, family and neighbors are just trying to understand why it all happened.

"I just hope they find him, quick," said Hill.

Police are not yet releasing the exact relationship between the suspect and victims to protect the children's identity.

The 13-year-old boy who survived the attack is in stable condition at Johns Hopkins and is helping police with the investigation.
