Police Arrest & ID Suspect Connected to Columbia Apartment Murder

COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) -- Howard County Police arrested a man connected to the murder of 62-year-old Martin Edward Mullineaux Wednesday.

28-year-old Joseph P. Loverde has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault and vehicle theft. Loverde was arrested around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday while walking in the 500 block of North Crain Highway in Glen Burnie.

Mullineaux was found dead Tuesday in his apartment in the 8700 block of Hayshed Lane, after not being seen for two days. Investigators learned the victim and suspect had a personal relationship and Mullineaux allowed Loverde to live with him. A call to the police was made in March of 2016 and was classified as a "domestic dispute."

Police also learned Loverde used Mullineaux's credit cards at various locations after the murder. The victim's missing Kia was located in a Glen Burnie parking lot.

Loverde is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
